Roborock mop not working

Severity: Info — mopping is incomplete; check water supply, detection and motion S5S5 MaxS7S8 Pro UltraQrevo SeriesQ5 Pro+

DIRECT ANSWER

Start by working out what stopped: water reaching the floor, the app detecting the mop, the mop vibrating or rotating, or the dock washing and refilling. Each has its own checks, and they vary by model.

COMMON CAUSES · RANKED

1

Tank, mount or pad not fully seated MOST COMMON

On the S5 Max and S7, the tank and mop mount have to click into their slots. If one hasn't locked, water may not reach the pad, or the app may say the mop isn't installed.

2

Tank empty or water setting too low

Check the tank level first. On the S5 Max, flow is set in the app, so a low setting can look like a fault.

3

Dock skipped the wash

With the Empty Wash Fill Dock, S8 Pro Ultra and S7 Max Ultra, the dock won't wash the pad if mopping wasn't used in that task.

4

S5 water filter elements blocked or overdue UNCOMMON

The S5 tank uses two replaceable filter elements. If fitting and water level check out but the pad stays dry, look at the filters next. A dry pad on its own doesn't prove they have failed.

5

VibraRise mechanism obstructed UNCOMMON

The S7 manual ties Error 27 to a jammed VibraRise system. Vibration can stop while water is still flowing.

HOW TO FIX IT

No battery or electrical work involved in this fix.

Confirm the model and its mop design

Read the model label first. The original Q5 and Q5+ have no mopping system at all. The others differ: the S5 uses a filter-fed tank, the S5 Max sets flow in the app, and the S7 and S8 Pro Ultra use VibraRise.

Reseat the parts with the robot off

On the S5 Max and S7, take out the tank and mop mount and slide each back until it clicks. The S8 Pro Ultra mount is fixed, so just reattach the pad flat.

Check water level and flow setting

Fill the tank and make sure it is fully seated. On the S5 Max, also check the flow setting in the app and that the whole assembly is in place.

If the mop stops moving, stop the task

If vibration stops or an S7 shows Error 27, switch the robot off. Remove any hair or debris around the mount that you can reach from outside, without forcing the mechanism.

If the dock doesn't wash, check the task and dock

Make sure that run actually included mopping, and that the dock's water tanks and filter are fitted. If the S8 Pro Ultra dock indicator is red, the app message gives the specific cause.

IF IT STILL FAILS

IF
An S5 pad stays dry after you've checked fitting, water level and pad preparation
→ Check the age and condition of the two tank filter elements and replace them if they're due. If water still doesn't reach the pad, contact support. Source: Roborock S5 user manual
IF
Error 27 comes back on an S7 after you've cleared the visible debris
→ Stop mopping and contact Roborock support with the model and error code. Leave the robot closed. Source: Roborock S7 user manual
IF
The dock skips the wash because the robot doesn't reach or settle on the dock
→ Treat it as a docking problem first. See Roborock won't return to the dock. Source: Roborock support: dock doesn't wash the mop
IF
The pads on the Qrevo Series Lift and Rotate Mop Modules are wet but don't rotate.
→ Stop the task and turn the robot off before you touch the mop pads. Take out each externally removable mop shaft and pad, then put them back as your Qrevo Series manual shows: the shaft clips into its housing and the pad lies flat. Don't force anything or open the robot. If the pads still won't rotate, contact Roborock support with your exact model and any App message. Source: Roborock Qrevo Series user manual

WHEN TO STOP

STOP HERE

Stop and contact Roborock support if a jam error returns after you clear what you can see, a tank or mount latch won't lock, water leaks inside the robot or dock, or you notice a burning smell, unusual heat or damaged cables. Give support the exact model and any error code.

S5

Original S5 tank only, when fitting and water level are confirmed and the pad still gets little water. The manual suggests replacing both filter elements every 1 to 3 months. Compare the filter shape with your tank before buying. Not for the S5 Max, S7 or S8 Pro Ultra. Source

FIELD NOTES

WHAT THE OFFICIAL DOCS LEAVE OUT — AND WHAT OWNERS REPORT

Most of these observations narrow the search without confirming a failed part. A dry pad tells you water isn't arriving, not whether the setting, tank, filters or pad is to blame. A not-installed message means the robot can't detect the module; the mount may be fine. Water moving through the dock during self-cleaning belongs to the dock's wash path, which is a different route from the robot's floor supply.

The designs are different. The S5 feeds water through tank filters, the S5 Max sets flow in the app, the S7 has a removable VibraRise mount, and the S8 Pro Ultra mount is fixed. Qrevo details here come from one Qrevo Series manual and may not match every Qrevo. This page does not cover the base S8, S6, S7 MaxV or Q7 variants; use their own manuals.

FAQ · REAL QUESTIONS

My Q5 has no mop option. Is something broken?

Not if it's the original Q5 or Q5+. Its manual covers vacuuming only, with no mop or water tank. Some later models with Q5 in the name, such as the Q5 Pro+, do mop, so check the exact model label.

Can I remove the mop mount on the S8 Pro Ultra to reseat it?

No. The manual states the VibraRise mount is non-detachable. Only the pad comes off; wash it and reattach it flat. Prying at the mount risks damaging it.

Water moved through the dock during self-cleaning. Does that prove the robot's water supply works?

No. The dock's wash path is separate from the robot's floor water supply. Water moving through the dock does not confirm that water reaches the robot's pad.

Can I add cleaning solution to the water tank?

It depends on the model. The S5 Max manual warns against cleaning fluid and disinfectant in the tank, while some newer manuals allow Roborock-approved solutions only. Follow your model's manual and the product label, and skip homemade mixtures.

My S7 shows Error 27. Does that code mean the same on other models?

The S7 manual defines Error 27 as a jammed VibraRise system. Other models may use the code differently, so check your own manual's error list or the app message.

Should I buy new mop cloths if the pad stays dry?

Not for that reason alone. A dry pad points to water supply or fitting. Replace the cloth once flow and installation are confirmed and the washed pad is torn, worn or won't lie flat.
