Roomba Charging Error 5 — No charging current
DIRECT ANSWER
COMMON CAUSES · RANKED
Grimy charging contacts MOST COMMON
Dust and oxide on the metal strips block current between dock and robot.
Dock without power
A loose power cord or a dead outlet leaves the dock dark and the robot uncharged.
Aftermarket or failing battery UNCOMMON
A worn or clone pack can refuse the charge current even when everything else works.
Faulty dock electronics UNCOMMON
If a known-good robot won't charge on this dock but charges elsewhere, the dock is the problem.
HOW TO FIX IT
Unplug the charging dock and power off the robot before wiping any charging contacts.
Unplug and clean every contact
With the dock unplugged, wipe the metal contacts on dock and robot with lightly dampened melamine foam. Dry before reconnecting.
Verify dock power
Plug the dock in, confirm its indicator lights, and try a different outlet if it stays dark.
Reseat the battery
Power off, remove the pack for ten seconds, reinstall, and dock the robot again.
Isolate dock vs battery
Persistent error with clean contacts means either the battery or dock has failed — swap whichever you can test first.
