Roomba Error 22 — Robot stuck
DIRECT ANSWER
COMMON CAUSES · RANKED
Trapped under or against furniture MOST COMMON
Low sofas and chair legs are the usual cages — the robot wedges itself in and can't reverse out.
Cords or textiles around the wheels
A charger cable or rug fringe winds into the drivetrain and anchors the robot in place.
Wheel jammed with debris UNCOMMON
If it reports being stuck in open space, check the wheels themselves.
HOW TO FIX IT
Free the robot
Lift it clear, unwind anything caught in the wheels, and set it down on open floor.
Press CLEAN to resume
The robot picks the mission back up from where it stopped.
Check the wheels if it recurs
Push both side wheels up and down, clear debris, and confirm they spin with equal resistance.
Block the trap
Add a keep-out zone in the app or a Virtual Wall in front of the spot that keeps catching it.
